UNC goals and activities for 2018
Please join us for the Park View United Neighborhood Coalition’s (UNC’s) monthly meeting on Wed. 2/7 at 7 p.m. in the Park View Recreation Center. The meeting will focus on outlining the UNC’s goals and activities for 2018. This is your chance to help ensure that the UNC is working on issues that matter to you.
What: Park View UNC monthly meeting: UNC goals and activities for 2018
When: Wed. 2/7, 7-8 p.m.
Where: Park View Rec Center, corner of Warder St. and Otis Pl. (entrance on Warder — we meet in the multipurpose room in the back)
Who: All interested neighbors!
The agenda will include:
- Officers’ reports
- Updates from the UNC standing committees and activities:
- The Friends of Park View Park
- Public Safety Working Group
- Report from the UNC’s representative on the Park Morton Redevelopment Steering Committee
- UNC website and communications
- Presentation of the UNC’s draft budget for 2018
- Open discussion outlining upcoming activities, opportunities for involvement, and setting goals for the year
- Filling the final seat on the UNC Board
The UNC is a member-driven organization. We engage in issues important to the community, as identified by our members. If there is an topic that is important to to you, let’s discuss how the UNC can help! If you are interested in what’s going on in the neighborhood, this will be a great chance to get caught up.
Past UNC meetings have covered topics such as:
- crime and public safety
- navigating the D.C. school lottery system
- redevelopment of the Bruce Monroe site and the Park Morton site
- rats and trash
- vacant buildings
- energy efficiency
- water quality and lead in water
- mosquitoes
- neighborhood streets and transportation planning
We’ve also hosted a town hall meeting with Mayor Bowser and forums for candidates for the D.C. Council.
