MPD meeting Tuesday, December 18: How redistricting will affect Park View
December 18, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
You are invited to attend a meeting on Tuesday night (December 18th) at 7pm at the Park Road substation to discuss police redistricting that will affect Park View. More details below!
As you may have seen on ANC Commissioner Boese’s blog, MPD is proposing to unify Park View under one police district (4D, headed by Commander Griffin). Currently, the southern half of Park View is in the Third District and the northern half is in the Fourth District. The split has created many challenges as neighbors living on the dividing line struggle to identify the right points of contact and issues affecting all of Park View require data-sharing and coordination across two police districts.
Unifying the neighborhood under one district was one of the requests that we made of Chief Newsham during the UNC Public Safety Working Group’s community forum earlier this year.
The 4th District Captain and officers would like to meet with community members to discuss these changes and what it will mean for the neighborhood on Tuesday night (Dec 18) at 7pm at the Park Road MPD substation (between Georgia and Sherman).
